Determiners

คำจำกัดความของ Determiners คือ

Determiners – words or phrases that precede a noun or noun phrase and serve to express its reference in the context. The most common of these are the definite and indefinite articles, the and a(n). Other determiners in English include demonstratives such as this and that, possessives such as my and the boy's, and quantifiers such as all, many and three.

Determiners คือ คำหรือวลีที่ไปนำหน้าคำหน้า หรือวลีที่เป็นนาม ทำหน้าที่อ้างอิง บ่งบอก หรือกำหนดคำนาม คำนามที่เห็นบ่อยๆคือ คำนำหน้านาม (Article) คำแสดงเจ้าของ (Possessives) คำชี้เฉพาะ (Demonstrative) คำแสดงปริมาณ (Quantifiers) และ คำนำหน้าคำนามที่แสดงจำนวน (Expression of Quality)

Articles คำนำหน้าคำนาม
คำนำหน้ารามประเภทนี้เป็น determiners ที่มีคนใช้ผิดกันเยอะ คำนำหน้าคำนามแบ่งเป็น 2 ประเภทคือ

• Definite คำนำหน้าแบบจำเพาะ ได้แก่ The ตัวอย่างเช่น the yellow book, the white cat 
• Non Definite คำนำหน้าแบบไม่จำเพาะ A, An

Possessives คำแสดงเจ้าของ
เรียกอีกอย่างว่า Possessive Adjective ได้แก่คำดังต่อไปนี้ my, your, his, her, its, our, their อย่างที่ชื่อบอกว่าเป็น possessive adjective หน้าที่ของ Adj. ก็คือไป modify หรือ ขยายคำนามนั้นเอง เนื้อเรื่องเกี่ยวกับ Adj. ก้มีอยู่ในหลักสูตร วิชา ENG1001 ด้วยเช่นกัน

ตัวอย่างเช่น
This is my hat.
Is that your house? it is pretty big.

Demonstrative คำชี้เฉพาะ
ได้แก่กลุ่มคำเหล่านี้ this, these, that, those

ตัวอย่างเช่น
Look at those birds over there!
I am so curious about that room, I don't know what he keep insides.

Expression of Quality (คำนำหน้าคำนามที่แสดงจำนวน)
เรียกอีกอย่างว่า quantifiers ตัวอย่างคำเหล่านี้ได้แก่ each, some, any, either, many, every, none of

ตัวอย่างเช่น
Could you lend me some money?
Either you or me need to open the door for every guess.

Quantifiers ต่อไปนี้ใช้กับคำนามที่นับได้ (count nouns):
many, a few, few, several, a couple (of), none of

ตัวอย่าง
      many trees
      a few trees
      few trees
      several trees
      a couple of trees
      none of the trees

Quantifiers ต่อไปนี้ใช้กับคำนามที่นับไม่ได้ (non-count nouns):
much, a little, little, a bit of, a good deal of, a great deal of, no

ตัวอย่าง
      not much dancing
      a little dancing
      little dancing
      a bit of dancing
      a good deal of dancing
      a great deal of dancing
      no dancing

Quantifiers ต่อไปนี้ใช้กับทั้งคำนามที่นับได้และนับไม่ได้ (count and non-count nouns):
all of, some, most (of), enough, a lot of, lots of, plenty of, a lack of

ตัวอย่าง
      all of the trees/dancing
      some trees/dancing
      most of the trees/dancing
      enough trees/dancing
      a lot of trees/dancing
      lots of trees/dancing
      plenty of trees/dancing
      a lack of trees/dancing
